Sky 56, Lyon
SKY 56 is a strong singular architectural object soaring up to mark the skyline of the new southern district of Lyon Part-Dieu. Gaps break up the monolith into four units to create an iconic silhouette. Each unit embarks on its own movement and its own dance, acquires its own freedom, and finds its own ascent. This formal theme could be applied to the whole block to striking effect. The 54-metre-high tower comprises a two-floor base housing services and shops for the building itself and the surrounding district (boutiques, day-care center, restaurant, health club) and 12 floors of offices.
