Universeine, Saint-Denis
Making the most of a view over the banks of the river, Universeine breathes life back into an abandoned industrial area by creating a sustainable district comprising 130,000 m² of office space, housing, and shops. The project enhances the value of the existing structures through its transformation of the Maxwell market hall, emblematic of the site’s industrial past, and its renovation of the Copernic administrative building constructed in the early 20th century. With its sculpted volumes, its heights that fit into the existing built environment, and the rhythmic pattern of its openings, Universeine manages to marry architectural styles of different periods and create a link between past and future.
