Renovation and extension of the City Hall, Noisy-le-Grand
The three-floor, 12- to 17-m wide extension to the Noisy-le-Grand town hall is set in the park in the direction of the Marne. Its roof garden is level with the ground floor of the existing building. Its facades form a woody landscape as a backdrop to the garden through a succession of freely spaced vertical slats that evoke tall trees. The new building branches out to create a figure at the centre of which the renovated town hall culminates. The plants in the lower garden serve as a first filter to sunlight. The second filter is the pattern of moveable vertical metal louvers that enable efficient control of direct sunlight. The design of the public space lends itself to a gentle liaison in the direction of the Marne by way of the garden.
