Sports and cultural hall, Mâcon
A simple, distinctive shape in three bands, the multi-purpose complex in Mâcon is set up on the orthogonal grid of the Parc des Expositions that informs the site. The stage, the spectator space, and the annexes are housed in three bands that incorporate the different structures in a single movement, with the three superimposed layers set somewhat out of line. The building seems to project out toward the arriving spectators. The eye is drawn to the area beneath the structure where the public finds shelter while waiting for the doors to open. From a distance, the building is perfectly integrated into the Parc des Expositions but at the same time it gives it a new architectural style and attracts attention by its distinctive design.
