Europalaces Cinema, Amiens
This movie theatre complex offers a seating capacity of 2,750 with 12 screens. During the day, it looks like a floating structure, with an undulating metal façade gleaming in the sunlight. At night, the skin becomes translucent so that passers-by can see the activity going on inside the building from the outside. This creates a rhythmic play on surfaces and on light and shadow. As a site for projections, the venue itself provides the city with a new movie screen, in the manner of a magic lantern.
