Alpes stadium, Grenoble

The compact volume of the stadium is implanted in the beautiful Mistral park that stretches all the way to its feet. The rounded, swelling forms of the envelope minimize its visual impact. The transparency of the façade lets the landscape penetrate inside its enclosure. The landscape integration is reinforced by the use of wood for the screen walls of the façade. The façade is animated throughout the day by the presence of a restaurant and stores on the ground floor. Four grandstands surround the grassy field, unified by the swelling forms of the silk-screened glass coverings. They remain transparent to the light, while the structure’s arches protect the public from the sun.
